A.J. Horton, "served in the Civil War from beginning to end. For twelve months he served with the 2nd Texas Infantry and the balance of the time, he served with General Sul Ross' "Brigade of Calvary." Died in Caldwell, August of 1898. Born in AL.

M.D. Burnett, an old settler near Navasota died. "He was an ex-confederate."

Hensley, T. G.
T.G. Hensley died at Talpy, coleman Co. on the 15th of January and was brought to Yellow Prairie for interment. He was 57 and served in Green's Brigade during the war.

J.T. Lewis "was an ex-confederate." Died January 1900. Buried at Providence Cemetery, Burleson County. No service marker.

Lovelace, William Ray
Dr. William Ray Lovelace died at Rita (Burleson County) August 1900. Buried at old Macedonia cemetery, Burleson County. "He served in some of the indian wars in GA and was a surgeon in the Confederate War." He was near 85 years and was born in GA. *Has a service marker.

Greenlee, James S.
James S. Greenlee died October 1900. He is buried at Masonic Cemetery, in Caldwell, Texas. "He served under Mobley in Confederate Army." Is not listed.

George L. Gee (76) died at Georgetown, January 12, 1900. "He was a Mexican War veteran and also served during Confederate War."

Bell, James Thomas
James Thomas Bell, 54y 4m 12d died Feb. 19, 1901 from pneumonia. He served through out the war as a member of Company I, tth Mississippi, Mabry's Brigade, Chalmer's Division, CSA and hs record as a loyal southern was without blemish.

Chriesman, O.W.
O.W. Chriesman died March 5, 1901. He is buried at Chriesman Chapel Cemetery. (Burleson County) "At the beginning to the Civil War he enlisted in Capt. Allen's Co., 17th Texas Infantry and served until close of war. He was in Battles of Millican's Bend, Mansfield, Pleasant Hill and others." No service marker.

Matthews, J. F.
J.F. Matthews died April 8, 1901 in Cameron. Remains were brought to Burleson County. He served entire war being a member of Granbury's Brigade, Cleburn's division and a captain in that division. Not listed in cemetery book.

Thompson, Thomas C.
Captian Thomas C. Thompson died in Austin and remains were brought back to Yellow Prairie (Burleson County). He was an old Texas veteran as well as Confederate veteran. Spelled Thomson in cemetery book, no service marker.

Fisher, James Lat
James Lat Fisher was a volunteer solider. He died a Globe, AZ and was buried at Odd Fellows cemetery in Weimer, Texas.

Edmonds, William H.
William H. Edomonds died January 25, 1902 (73y 3m 3d) and buried in Masonic Cemetery. He was born in OH. "He served in Civil War in the Confederate army and was member of Camp Rogers, U.C.V. at Caldwell". Not listed in cemetery book.

Ragsdale, Samuel Gabriel
Samuel Gabriel Ragsdale (64y 9m 28d) died April 1904. "Major Ragsdale as he was known, was born in MS. He came to Texas several years before the war, residing in Austin and enlisting as a Texas Ranger under Col Ford at outbreak of war. He served one year and then raised a company and joined Davidson's battalion, afterwards known as Daley's Battalion. At close of war he held position of Lieutenant Colonel." He was buried in Masonic cemetery. No service marker

T.J. Knox (67) died at his home at Navasota, April 1904. "He was an old confederate solider." Buried at Navasota.

1905

Holmes, William S.
William S. Holmes died January 9, 1905 (88y 3m 1d) and was buried in Masonic Cemetery. Born in KY. He was a "Confederate solider in Co. I, 5th Texas Infantry, Hood's Brigade in Army of VA. Received discharge because of bad health and after returning to Texas enlisted in state service and served until close of War." Not listed in cemetery book.

Smith, James Robert
James Robert Smith died March 17, 1905 and was buried in Masonic Cemetery. (64y 3m 18d) Born in AL. "He enlisted in Confederate services with 1st Alabama Artillery, being wounded in the battle of Seven Pines, llosing his arm. After he recovered he was promoted to Capt. in the Artillery and served until the end of the war." No service marker.

Thomas, J. R.
J.R. Thomas died in Burleson County, March 1905 at age of 81 and was buried at Hillsboro. "He served in confederate army under Capt. Tom Cay and was given a discharge on account of bad health."

Newcomb, J. C.
J.C. Newcomb (79) died March 1905. Born in VA, died at Burleson County. "He entered the Confederate service in 1862 as member of Col. Allen's regiment and was wounded in the battles of Milligan's Bend and Mansfield."

Easley, E. W.
E.W. Easley died April 2, 1905. "At outbreak of war, he enlisted in Carter's Regiment (Calvary) at Chappell Hill, being a member of Capt. J.W. Matthews co. He was captured at Arkansas post and was in prison Camp Douglas for some time. After being exchanged, he was assigned to the Army of TN, serving in the 18th Texas Infantry, Gradbury's Brigade, Cheatham's division, serving through out the war and made an enviable record as a brave and efficient solider." Possibly buried in Benton Harbor, MI where he died. (He was an old settler of Burleson County)

Farmer, Thomas
Thomas Farmer died June 27, 1905, at the home of his daughter. Born in VA. (77y 1m 8d) He enlisted in Confederate army in 1862, serving in Colonels Allen's regiment, Douglass Co., to the end of the war.

Goodwin, J. J.
J.J. Goodwin of Gus, Texas died July 1905. "One of the old settlers of Burleson County and an old confederate soldier and a good man loved by all."

Whittington, L. O. R.
L.O.R. Whittington died August 14, 1905 (58y 5m 27d) of stomach trouble and complications. Born in MS. "He served latter part of war in cinfederate army, being too young to serve at beginning." Buried At masonic cemetery, Caldwell. No service marker.

Allen, Hiram
Hiram Allen, Confederate solider died September 16, 1905 in Burleson County. (77y 4m 6d) Born in TN. "He served in 1st TN regiment and was in Gen. J.E. Johnston's division, captured about 8 months before close of war and was a prisoner for 7 months before being exchanged. He was paroled when General Lee surrendered.

Andrew Jackson Norville died October 1904. (71y 9m 29d) born in NC. "He served in Confederate army in Green's Brigade as one of Nally's scouts for 4 years. His record as a solider was excellent. "Buried at Masonic cemetery. *Has a service marker.

Hill, James A.
James A. Hill, age 63y 2m 19d died on August 19. He was a Confederate solider, serving most credible through out the whole war.

McIvor, Alexander William
Judge Alexander William McIvor died September 19, 1906. (70y 22d) Born in NC. "He attended law school at Brenham, where he secured his liscense, joined the confederate army. He served throughout the war." He was a board member of the Confederate Home in Austin. Buried at Masonic cemetery. No service marker.

Houston, M. J.
M.J. Houston (74) died in Runnels County, December 9, 1906. (Many years a resident of Burleson County) "He enlisted in 2nd Texas Hood's Brigade and engaged in many battles. in civil war. He was in siege at Vicksburg and when they surrendered, he walked barefoot the entire distance to Burleson County."

1907

Ponce, D. R.
D. R. Ponce, age about 66, died May 1st. He was an ex-Confederate solider. He served with bravery throughout the Civil War and was a member of Co. I, 5th Texas in Hood's Brigade.

Garner, William
William Garner Sr. died at his home on Covington Prairie (Burleson County) at age of 76 and was buried at Macedonia cemetery. "He was a confederate veteran."

Blocker, John C.
John C. Blocker died at home in Lyons in 78th year of his age. "He served through civil war in the confederate army and came to Texas in 1868." Buried at Masonic cemetery at Caldwell.

1908

Sullivan, T. D.
T.D. Sullivan died at his residence at Caldwell last Friday. He was buried at Masonic Cemetery.
"When civil war began, he enlisted in Company H of 2nd Texas Volunteers and was a brave solider, being wounded and captured in the battle of Shiloh. A union officer attempted to administer the oath of allegiance to him, which he refused to take. For this, he was arrested. From St. Louis, he with other prisoners were taken to Camp Douglas, the notorious Chicago prison and after some months he was exchanged and re-entered service."

1911

Peters, W. J.
W.J. Peters died at his home near Cooks Point last Sunday at age of 72. "Being at this age and in the very prime of life, he joined the confederate army in which he served faithfully for his country till the close of hostilities." He was buried at Masonic cemetery.

Adams, Augustus Harrison
Capt. Augustus Harrison Adams departed this live at his home in Lyons March 29, 1911. He was born in 1828 in Ark. "At the beginning of the civil war he entered the confederate army and served as captain until the close."

Turner, J.B.
J. B. Turner died Wednesday near Giddings at age of 83y 5m 3d. "He was a veteran of the War Between the ?States and Mexico and also Civil War."

Goodwin, H. C.
H.C. Goodwin died at the residence of his brother, A.M. Goodwin Saturday afternoon. He was 65. "When Civil War began he joined 2nd Texas Infantry in which he served as brave solider till close of war when he returned home."

Hunt, Thomas M.
Judge Thomas M. Hunt, "prominent confederate veteran" died here (Cleburne, Texas) yesterday at age of 72.

Snook, J. S.
J.S. Snook died the 11th of July at the age of 65, at his home in Pauling, OH. He was for amny years a resident of Caldwell. He was a Union Solider.

Hundley, F. J.
Last Firday morning, at his home in Marble Falls, Capt. F.J. Hundley died at age of 82y 2m and was laid to rest in cemetery there. He was a former resident of Caldwell. "He erved all through Civil War with Confederate army being a captain in a company in 31st Louisiana Regiment."

Hale, J. C.
J.C. Hale died at his home Monday and was buried at Masonic Cemetery. He was born November 4, 1853. "Mr Hill joined the volunteers and served as volunteer solider for awhile and then joined the Calvary in which he served till close of war."

1912

Hope, Cyris
Cyris Hope died at his home in Fort Stockton, Tuesday ad age of 66y 10m. He was buried there. He was a former resident of Deanville, Texas. "He was a confederate veteran having served all through out the Civil War in 2nd Texas Regiment."

McArthur, James B.
James B. McArthur, for many years a resident of Caldwell died at his home in Mt> Pleasant. He was buried there. "When war broke out he enlisted August 1861 and served in Company H of the 2nd Texas Regiment and served till the end of war."

Faulkner, S. W.
S.W. Faulkner died Saturday in home for Confederate Veterans at Austin. He was buried at Chriesman, Texas. He would have been 92 on 7th of August. He moved from Brenham to Burleson County. "where he made his home, except for four years of service of Confederate army. He was in Confederate Home for two years."

Oliver, J. P.
Dr. J.P. Oliver died last Saturday at age of 75. He was buried at Masonic Cemetery. "When Civil War began, Dr. Oliver went to army as a surgeon and served in tha tcapacity until the army officers, in obedience to a petition of the people of the community granted a furlough for him to return home where there was much sickness and was needed more."

Mullinax, G. W.
G.W. Mullinax died Sunday in Caldwell at age of 65. He was buried at Providence cemetery. "He enlisted with Confederate Army and served the entire time."

Thomas J. Haddox died at his home in Caldwell at age of 69. He was buried at Masonic Cemetery. "At beginning of Civil War he enlisted in 2nd Louisiana Regiment in which he served until the close fo the struggle."

Lee, George W.
George W. Lee died at his home in Caldwell at age of 72y 6m 2d. He was buried at Masonic. "When the Civil War began, he enlisted in Waller's Battalion in Green's Brigade and served entire four years of the war. He and Col John G. Rankin of Brenham and Gus Winkler were comrades together and Gus is the only survivor in Burleson County that ws in Brigade with them."

J.R. Hensley died Tuesday in Chriesman at age of 75. He was buried at Chriesman. "He served though war as a confederate."

Smith, W. T.
W.T. Smith died at home in Denton, Monday at good old age. "He was a Confederate Veteran, serving all through Civil War, in which he lost an arm on field of battle."

Bell, Emmett B.
Emmett B. Bell died at home Tuesday at age of 66y 6m 15d. He was buried at Masonic Cemetery. "He enlisted in Confederate Army in which he served faithfully till end of war."

Ewell, C.
Mr. C. Ewell died at his residence at Chriesman Monday and was buried at Chriesman Cemetery. He was born 69 years ago. "When War Between the States occurred he espoused the cause of the South and served till close of war with honor to himself and the cause he was contending for."

Grant, Joshua S.
Joshua S. Grant died last Thursday at his home in Providence at age of 67. "When war started he enlisted in confederate service, serving in Hood's Brigade and was severely wounded in battle of Wildiners on May 6, 1864 being shot through right shoulder and hip. He returned to service and served till close of war." He was buried at Providence Cemetery.
