Often referred to as the Indianola Artillery Guards, they were led by figures like Capt. Joseph M. Reuss and Capt. Darwin M. Stapp. They served along the Texas Gulf Coast, aiding in the defense of Calhoun County, particularly around Indianola and Camp Esperanza, before joining larger artillery battalions.
