The date for the annual Homecoming Event has been set for May 3, the first
Saturday in May. Normal gathering time at the Community Center is from 10:30
until ?, so feel free to come early and stay late. Bring your favorite dish(es)
for all to enjoy! To provide some stimulation to the interest of those in
attendance, please bring along any family or personal items that may be of
historical interest to the community. Bring your friends and introduce them to
hospitality of Reese.
The generosity of Peggy Joy (Etheridge) Pepin Long continues as she has once
again decided to donate one of her very best quilts to be given away in the
drawing to be held at a convenient time after lunch.
This quilt is real special, so start saving your $$ now and let’s show Peggy Joy
just how much her work and generosity is appreciated. Getting your entries in
the box needs your attention immediately on arrival.
Please express your appreciation to Mr. Robert E. Lee as he continues to provide
a great service as the point of contact in the community to manage the ongoing
affairs of the cemetery and community center. Robert is the person to contact to
make arrangements for a burial in the cemetery. Robert’s home phone is
903.876.2401 and his cell phone is 903.312.1923. In event Robert is unavailable,
please contact Charles Etheridge at his home phone on 903.825.9391 or his cell
phone at 903.738.3785 or at his Email address above.
Numerous neighbors in the community are finding the Community Center Facility to
be very convenient for birthday get-togethers and family gatherings. Voluntary
contributions to the Community Center are typically made to help defray
expenses. Mr. Lee also maintains the scheduling for the Community Center.
Again, if he isn't available, please contact Charles. Operating Expenses
(Insurance, Maintenance, Utilities & Mowing) for the Community Center continue
at approximately $1600 in 2013.
Maintenance of the Cemetery grounds (mowing & trimming plus minor repair
requires $1200-$1500 annually. Special situations such as "hog proofing" the
grounds may require expenditure as we move forward.
Hamburger Suppers are scheduled for March 28, June 27 and October 3 at 5:30 PM.

On your visits to the Cemetery please tidy-up the
graves of your loved ones as appropriate since
we have no paid maintenance or garbage pick-up
service.
Although the funeral directors are normally helpful
in placing extra dirt at graves that may be sinking
in, nothing is as effective as your personal attention
to this sort of thing at the graves of your loved
ones. If something is obvious we solicit their help
at new burials but this is sometimes inadequate to
repair damage. With the bad winter this year, this is
especially important to maintain a good appearance.
The Annual Meeting of the Association was
completed on February 25. We had a lot of good
discussion this year among the 11 people that attended
to try and develop some ideas on how to increase
the revenue from the Hamburer Suppers and/or to
replace that revenue in event we have a shortage of
qualified volunteers to help in those activities. Your
participation would be helpful and if that is not "your
thing", cash is appreciated as well!
‘Burger chefs Robert Temple, Robert Lee and all the
ladies that bake pies and manage the kitchen for our
Hamburger Suppers continue to do an outstanding
service to the community (but they are getting
t..i..r..e..d). The Pie & ‘Burger Suppers are netting
about $600/supper to help defray expenses of the
Community Center. In the last 2 or 3 years we have
benefitted greatly from the whole pie sales. This has
contributed more than $100/per event to these profits.
Please extend personal invitations to your friends
and neighbors to attend these events! Your
efforts in this regard are critical to the success of
these suppers! Please be aware and consider how
these funds could be replaced in the absence of the
Hamburger/Pie suppers and the significant effort
involved.
Your General and Memorial Contributions of
$$ to the Community Center & Cemetery are
a significant part of their income. Donations of
materials can also be very effective when upkeep is
needed on the Community Center!!
