      William Henry Cagle was born April 27, 1896 in Alabama, the son of Jasper Luke and Abbie Lucinda (Dutton) Cagle of Lohn, married Louisa Frances Rumbaugh, born August 20, 1900 in Collin County, the daughter of Charlie Marvin and Susie Savannah (Mullins) Rumbaugh of Lohn, on October 1, 1919 at Rockwood.  He was a blacksmith and truck driver before moving from Salt Gap, McCulloch County, to Valera in the summer of 1935 to become Star Route mail carrier from Valera to Melvin.  He was a veteran of World War I, Co. C., 143 Inf. 36th Div.  William Henry died February 9, 1954 in Lubbock while visiting his son, William F., and Louisa Frances Cagle, March 7, 1976.  For many years, and until her illness, she was the Valera news correspondent for the Coleman papers.  She and all her children were members of the Valera Baptist Church.  William H. was a Methodist.  They had six children:

     (1) William Francis, May 7, 1921 in Lohn - May, 1976, married (1) Majorie Griffin of Merkel when he got out of the service.  She died three months after their daughter, Carolyn, was born.  Carolyn died in a pickup-car accident when she was 16 years old.  William F. married (2) Billie (Brown) LaMath in Lubbock, 4 years after Majorie's death.  She had a son, Richard LaMath.  Three sons, Keith, Scott and Arnold were born to them.  Billie still lives in Lubbock;

     (2) Helen Lois, September 28, 1922 in Knowles, New Mexico, married Grady Frank Laws, son of Katherine Laura (Gulley) and James Frank Laws of Glen Cove, February 4, 1956 (see John Bailey Laws and Gulley).  Grady served with the 182nd Inf. in the South Pacific in World War II.  In 1953, Grady bought the old Thomson place two miles north of Valera where they now live.  Later, he also bought the Christi and Dozier places.  He runs cattle and goats.  Grady Frank Il was born May 28, 1957 in Lampasas and Zane John, November 8, 1964 in Coleman.  Grady Frank married Betty (Middleton) Armstrong, daughter of Cecil and Lanora Alice (Millsap) Middleton, May 30, 1980 in Valera. Betty's daughter, Sherry Alicia, was born July 4, 1971 and son, Charlie Perry, April 15, 1973 in Coleman.  Grady Frank, Betty, Sherry and Charlie now live in the Wm. Henry and Louisa Cagle home in Valera.  He works for the coal mine at Rockwood and she works at Hords Creek Lake in the maintenance department.  Zane will enter Angelo State University in the fall of 1983;

     (3) J. L. (initials only, a twin), November 21, 1926 in Big Spring, married Kate (Mulanax) Brown in Valera.  Their infant son died when 3 days old.  Kate's sons by previous marriage are David Lee, Weldon (see Gassiot Family), Winifred and Lynn Brown (see Brown-Pepper-Forehand).  J. L. worked for Santa Fe Railroad, died September 27, 1983, buried at Valera;

     (4) C. M. (initials only, a twin), November 21, 1926 in Big Spring, works for Santa Fe.  He and his wife, Lerah, live in Cleburne;

     (5) Samuel Lewis, October 1, 1934 at Salt Gap - May 8, 1983, married Juanita Benton of Coleman in 1953.  Samuel L. Jr., was born in Coleman in 1955; Kyle Marvin and Caye-Ellen were born in Lubbock.  Since Sam's death in Kansas, Juanita returned to Odessa where her three children and their families live;

     (6) Daniel Riley, May 28, 1937 in Valera, married Dorothy Perry in Lubbock after his navy service.  They lost one baby girl at birth and have Brian and Sonya.  They live in Burkburnett.

     During World War II, William Francis and Daniel R. served in the U. S. Navy; J. L. and C. M. in the Army, and Samuel L. in the National Guard.
