Leaving the bright lights of Houston behind them, John, Nora Lee, and six-month old John Truman Tolar moved into Coleman on April 19, 1956.  The decision to make this move had been made two years before, when Truman Caruthers, father of Nora Lee, came to Coleman to establish their business,  Coleman Sheet Metal; the building and property being purchased from the Barnett family at 1315 North Neches.  Air conditioning was more in demand each year, and in 1969, John purchased the building at 101 Commercial, establishing Tolar Air Conditioning and Heating.   Robert Lance Tolar was born June 5, 1970 in San Angelo.

Truman and Dora Bee Caruthers were in business in Winters with Bill Moore prior to moving to Coleman.  The Caruthers' other daughters were Helen, who married Harold Bragg (see Charles H.
Grounds), and Linda Morie' who married James D. Smith, son of Polly and Dee Smith (see Burroughs).
