Funeral Services Held Saturday for J. B. Cook
James B. Cook, 74, passed away at his home in Athens at 11:45 a.m. Friday after an extended illness.
A retired farmer, Mr. Cook was born in Henderosn County and had lived in Athens for the past five years.
Survivors include his wife, four sons, Clarence Cook, Curtis Cook of Powell, Clarmon Cook of San Leandro, California and Coy Cook of Dallas; five daughters, Miss Cecil Cook of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Mrs. Lola Tyler of Whitesboro, Mrs. Alma Reed of Temple, MRs. Marie Audry of Roswell, New Mexico and Mrs. Madeline Roberson of Carlsbad, New Mexico; two brothers, Edward Cook of Eustace and Elbert Cook of Dallas; a sister, Mrs. Mae Pickle of Eustace, 23 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 3 p.m. from the Hassell and Foster Chapel with the Rev. B. B. Eads officiating and burial was in Moorehead Cemetery.
Stolen Car is found Stripped near Farm Road
A 1949 Ford coach stolen in Dallas and registered there in the name of Mrs. Fred T. Ashley, 616 Sabine Streete was found stripped Sunday about 6 p. m. seven miles from Athens near the Leagueville road.
Officers said the car had been driven onto a dead end road a short distance from the Leagueville road and stripped of its tires, carburetor, differential and possibly other parts.
