Belcher Serving On Carrier USS Leyte
Quonset Point. R. I.
Willian O. Belcher, commissaryman second class, USN, of route 1, Brownsboro, is serving aboard the support aircraft carrier USS Leyte which returned in June from a six-weeks cruise to Lisbon, Portugal.
The Leyte spent a week in Lisbon, and many of the crew members made tours of the city and the surrounding territory. Many others visited the Shrine at Fatima. En route to and returning from Lisbon, the ship engaged in anti-submarine warfare exercises.

Athens Child Admitted to Hosptial in Athens
Sandra Partin, 5 -year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Billy O. Partin of Athens, was admitted on Wednesday, July 13, to the Scottish Rite Hosptial for Crippled Children in Dallas.
Texas Scottish Rite Masons founded the hospital more than 30 years ago in an effort to provide a chance at a normal life and a useful place in society for the handicapped children.
The Scottish Rite Hospital has accepted almost 100,000 children for treatment since 1925. An expert staff, plus unique physical facilities and dedication to the welfare of the child, make it an outstanding treatment center that serves the entire state. It is supported by public contributions and bequests.

Eustace Services are Held Monday for Mrs. Oatman
Funeral services wer held at the First Baptist Church of Eustace Monday at 3 p.m. for Mrs. A. E. Oatman, 90, who died Sunday at Fort Worth.
The services were conducted by the REv. J. W. Williford, and interment was in the Eustace Cemetery.
Survivors include two sons, H. R. McNeil of Fort Worth and E. McNeil of Trinidad; one brother D. R. Russell of Ballinger; one sister Mrs. W. M. Noble of Lufkin, and six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. D. Hancock Dies at Kerens
Mrs. Dora Hancock, 68, a native of Henderson County, died at her home at kerens Tuesday night after a brief illness.
She had lived at Kerens since 1929.
Survivors are six sons, John, Dale and Wallace Hancock of Trinidad and Kenneth Hancock of Dallas; one daughter, Mrs. G. N. Douglas of Long Beach; four sisters Mrs. Bob Moss of Hamilton, Mrs. Ella Warren and Mrs. Ras Warren, both of Athens, and Mrs. J. R. Beauchamp of Corsicana; one brother Leonard Featherston of Athens and 22 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

John Edgar Rusk Dies Thursday; Funeral Friday
Funeral services were held Friday at 10 a.m. at Carroll and Lehr Memory Chapel for John Edgar Rusk, 79, a retired farmer, who died Thursday at 2:15 a.m. at the home of a daughter, Mrs. J. L. Brown, 119 Tillison, after a lengthy illness.
The Rev. T. L. Climp conducted the services, and interment was in the Athens City Cemetery.
Mr. Rusk, a native of Alabama had lived in AThens since 1919, coming here from Midfield. Survivors are one son, R. L. Rusk of Athens, three daughters Mrs. B. I. Williams, Odessa, Mrs. J. L. Brown of Athens and Mrs. W. F. Thomas of Abbieville, Louisiana; one brother F. W. Rusk of Rome, Georgia, one sister Miss Beulah Rusk of Rome, and 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
