Outstanding Students of the
Malakoff High School, Term of 1947

Chosen the outstanding students of the Malakoff High School
during the 1946-47 term just ended, Miss Charlene Douglas, and
Mr. Joe Barnett, Jr., were the recipients last week of
certificates of membership in the Young Citizens Rotary Club. The
presentation of the awards was made by Edwin Hart, Athens
Rotarian, at the Commencement Exercises held in the grammar
school auditorium on Tuesday evening last week.
Miss Douglas, president of the Junior Class, is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Douglas, and Joe Barnett, who was one of the
school's outstanding athletes during the past term, is the only
son of Mr. And Mrs. Joe Barnett.
The selection of the outstanding students, based on meritorious
conduct, was made by the high school faculty, using ten
qualifying points as the basis for the selection of the
outstanding boy and girl students from the high school student
body. The points used were those of, cleanliness, thriftiness,
courtesy, loyalty, honesty, service, dependability,
sportsmanship, scholarship, and leadership.
