Obituary

W. H. Ballard was born in the year 1840 in Alabama. He lived a consistent member of the Methodist church for quite a number of years. In after years he came to Texas where he lived until his death. After he came to Texas he joined the Christian church of which he lived a member until his death. He was a charter member of the Central Texas Musical convention. He was a dear lover of music and as a teacher was a success. He was one of our best singers and his place in the convention was filled for a great many years. The later part of his life was spent in Hunt county, where he died about three years ago. We hope when this life is over that we will meet him again and sing the sweet song of Zion together.

Obituary
June 21, 1901
We find since we last met that death has made its way into our conventional family and taken from us another one of our members, Sister M. E. Foster, wife of Bro. T. C. Foster, who died the third day of January. Sister Foster was born in this county Nov. 4, 1861. She joined this convention at Old Bethel in 1891. She was a true lover of sacred music and very zealous in the cause. She became a member of the Presbyterian church some ten years ago of which she lived a consistent member until her death. She said she was willing to die, whenever it was her Savior's will. She left a devoted husband and four children to mourn her departure, her parents having preceded her in death some time before. Brethren, sisters, relatives and friends, while we mourn for Sister Foster we mourn not as those who have no hope, but we cherish the fond hope that she is at rest in the Paradise of God, awaiting the final resurrection of the Saints and while we sing here on earth we believe Sister Foster will be enabled to sing redeeming grace and never dying love throughout the ceaseless ages of a never ending eternity.
