Funeral services for Daisy Dean Avant, 91, will be held at 3 p.m.
Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Athens with the Rev.
Archie Fleming officiating. Interment will be in Davis Cemetery
under the direction of Carroll & Lehr Funeral Home.
She died Monday in Henderson County Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Avant was the daughter of John and Margaret Hughes Davis, a
pioneer Henderson County family. She was born Feb, 28, 1890 in
the Baxter community
and had lived in the community all her life.
She was a housewife and was a correspondent for the Athens Review
covering the Baxter Community for many years.
Mrs. Avant was active in the United Methodist Churches of Baxter
and Athens and was a member of the Baxter Home Demonstration
Club. She is survived
by two grandsons, Harold C. Clark and Richard Clark of Baxter;
one granddaughter, Sarah Jane Brown of Baxter; two
great-granddaughters, Crista Clark and
April Clark and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Lynn Davis, Hylan Davis, Ford Davis, Ferrell
Davis, Jimmy Wyrick and John Wyrick.
