Laura Branham Ackerman


Services for Mrs. Laura Branham Ackerman, 58, of
Mabank were held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at David
Clayton & Son Funeral Chapel in Duncanville with
the Rev. John Stasney officiating.

Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. in Woodside Cemetery in
Grand Saline.

Mrs. Ackerman died Friday in an Arlington hospital
after a brief illness.

She had recently moved to Mabank and previously
lived in Grand Saline.

Survivors include her husband, Harry Ackerman of
Mabank; Two sons, Thomas R. Harris of Oklahoma
and Ronald K. Ackerman of Dallas; and one grandchild.

Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Vee Ackerman, 84, of
Fort Worth and formerly of Malakoff, will be held at 2 p.m.
Thursday in the Callaway Funeral Home Chapel in Malakoff
with the Rev. Bill Reisor officiating.

Burial will be in the Malakoff City Cemetery.

Mrs. Ackerman died Tuesday in a Fort Worth hospital.

She was a resident of Fort Worth and formerly lived in
Malakoff. She was a member of the Broadway Baptist
Church in Fort Worth.

Survivors include four sisters, Mrs. Cecil Miles of Kerens,
Mrs. Josephine DePuy of Milford, Mrs. Sue Mosshart of
Houston, Mrs. Allene Brooks of Temple; and several nieces
and nephews.

Babb, Ernest Milton

Funeral services for Ernest Milton Babb, 73, of Edom were held at
2 p.m. Sunday at Edom United Methodist Church with the
Rev. Jim Welch officiating.

Burial was in Edom Cemetery under direction of Eubank
Funeral Home of Canton.

Mr. Babb died Friday at his home after a sudden illness.

He had lived in Edom for 38 years. He was a member of
Edom United Methodist Church, a retired metal worker
with 30 years service with Holly Motors in Tyler.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Olidean Babb of Edom;
one son Billy Babb of Tyler; one daughter, Mrs. Erna Dean
Faulkner of Edom; three brothers, Leroy Babb and Charles
Babb, both of Tyler, and Virgil Babb of Bellflower, Calif.;
one sister, Mrs. Effie Richardson of Tyler; and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Edd Beggs, Tim Beggs, Dr. Joe Tom Farmer,
James Wyatt, Archie Babb, W.A. Davidson, Bud Thedford
and Kernon Jones.

Honorary pallbearers were men of the adult couples class
and members of the Methodist softball team.

Funeral services for John B. Davis, 85, of Tyler, brother of Ray
Glaze of Chandler, were held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Martin
Springs Baptist Church with Rev. James L. Fortner officiating.

Interment was in Rock Hill Cemetery under direction of
Burks-Walker-Tippit
Funeral Home.

Mr. Davis died Saturday in a Tyler hospital
after a brief illness.

He was born Feb. 6, 1895, in Smith County. He had lived in
Henderson and Smith Counties. He was a retired grocery
store owner and a farmer. He was a Baptist and a veteran
of World War 1.

Other survivors include a sister, Mrs. May Gilbert of Tyler;
and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Bill Barton, Gilbert Barton, Earl Loving,
Calvin Brown, Jerry Gilbert and Billy Gilbert.

Truett Angel Services Set Here Saturday.


Funeral services for Truett Angel, 52, of Athens will be held
Saturday at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church.
Rev. Faulk Landrum and Boyd Denman will officiate.

Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Park under the direction
of the Hassell and Foster Funeral Home.

Mr. Angel died Thursday morning at his home following an
extended illness.

Mr. Angel had lived in Athens 22 years, operating a dry
cleaning plant here in his early years. He was a member
of the Optimist Club, lifetime member of the Parent-Teacher
Association, a former juvenile officer, and a member of the
First United Methodist Church.

He was owner of the Hickory Log Restaurant.

Mr. Angel felt a strong interest in young people, and participated
in all programs calculated to benefit the young. He showed
particular interest in children who had got into trouble and needed help.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Joy Angel of Athens; a son,
Stewart Angel of Washington State; and six sisters.

Pallbearers will be Dave Harris, Jack Brewer, Damon Douglas,
Allen Holt,, Pat Neill, R. D. Halbrook, Corky Bennett, Marlin
Smith, Elvin White, Tom Clayton, W. O. Reese, Gwyn Geddie,
Don Gordon, Dr. Jack Pearson, and Charles Reierson.
