Joseph Murry, 95, dies Sunday; rites slated Tuesday

Funeral services for Joseph E. Murry, 95, of 901 Cayuga Drive were held Tuesday in the Carroll and Lehr Funeral Home Memory Chapel with the
Rev. Alton Dodd and the Rev. Lester Simmons officiating. Burial was in the Rome Cemetery.
Mr. Murry died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday in a local hospital following a short illness.
A retired farmer, he had lived in the Murchison area most of his life. He was a member of the West Athens Baptist Church.
His wife, the late Mrs. Murtle Mae Murry, died on Nov. 20, 1965.
He is survived by two daughters Mrs. Lela Harton of Athens and Mrs. Vera Oxford of Dallas; one son, J. T. Murry of Mesquite; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were M. J. Melton, S. W. Oxford, Roy Murry, Coy Murry, Joe Bailey Murry and Henry Gage.
