Obituary

Funeral services for Mrs. Laura Lewis, 95, who died Sunday afternoon in an Athens hospital after a lengthy illness, were held Monday afternoon at the Carroll and Lehr Memory Chapel. The Rev. Marvin Johnson conducted the services and burial was in the Oaklawn Memorial Park. Mrs. Lewis, affectionately known as "Aunt Dutch" was born Jan. 17, 1868, in Mississippi and came to Texas when she was five years of age. She had lived in Henderson County since then, most of the time in the Murchison area. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Murchison and widow of John B. Lewis, who died in 1909. Survivors are three sons, Jack Lewis of Murchison, Walter Lewis of Athens, and Percy Lewis of Denton; and six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, and two great-great-great-grandchildren.
