Rick Mullins
 

Funeral services for Rick Mullins, 31, of Cedar Hill were held at 2 p.m.  Tuesday at the Eubank Funeral Chapel in Mabank with Sister Lucille Rice officiating.   Burial was in the Tool Cemetery.   Mr. Mullins died Monday in an automobile accident near Midlothian.   Born March 4, 1952 in Dallas, he lived most of his life at Cedar Hill.    He was a carpenter with Local Union No. 198 of Dallas and was a member of Fal (the newspaper page is messed up here)Temple Assembly of God Church in Dallas.   Survivors include two sons, Vincent Paul Mullins of Teague and Trent Keith Mullins of Cedar Hill; two daughters, Shana Lynn Mullins and Leigh Ann Mullins, both of Cedar Hill; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl  Mullins of Cedar Hill; paternal grandmother Allie Mae Mullins of Tool; two brothers, Earl Mullins Jr. of Wisconsin and Roland Melton of Fort Worth; one sister, Linda Mullins of Cedar Hill; and several aunts and uncles.

Ruth Hatzenbuehler
 

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Hatzenbuehler, 65, of Payne Springs, were held at 2 p.m. Monday in Eubank Funeral Home Chapel in Mabank with Rev. A. H. Logan officiating.   Interment was in Payne Cemetery in Henderson County.   Mrs. Hatzenbuehler died Sunday in a Kaufman hospital after a short illness.   A native of Henderson County, she was born Aug. 28, 1915, the daughter of the late Joe W. and Eunice Thurmond.  She lived in the Carson Addition of Payne Springs the past four years, and formerly resided in Dallas.  She was a registered nurse, having retired in 1976.  She was a Presbyterian, a member of Baylor University Nurses Alumni Association and a member of AARP.   Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Betty Wood of Payne Springs; and two grandchildren.   Pallbearers were Norman Everitt, Bob Payne, C. E. Smith, Owen Thibodeaux, Rick Sanford and Dink Carson.

Thomas Gordan Griffin, 77, of Murchison are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday in the First Baptist Church in Murchison with the Rev. Tommy George and the Rev. Bill Watson officiating.   Burial will be in the Red Hill Cemetery near Murchison under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home. Mr. Griffin died Tuesday in Lakeland Medical Center after an extended illness.   Born March 6, 1906 in Murchison, he had lived there all his life.  He was married to Tinnie Mae Haralson on Nov. 12, 1927 at Black Jack and was preceded in death by a daughter JoAnn on May Jan. 27, 1975 (this is the way it is printed)  He was a retired farmer and stockman.   Survivors include his wife, Tinnie Mae Haralson Griffin of Murchison; one son, Thomas Griffin of Murchison; four daughters, Hazel Adair of Leagueville, Bessie Hood of Black Jack, Pauline Schroeder of Lake Jackson, Peggy Norman of Cross Roads, two sisters, Pat Palmer and Minnie Lee Fowler, both of Murchison; 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.   Grandsons Milton Adair, Stephen Adair, Delmer Hood Jr., Jeffrey Max Hood, Derrell Norman and David Griffin will serve as pallbearers.  Other grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Ara Jean Floyd
 

Funeral services for Mrs. Ara Jean Floyd, 71, of 809 South Palestine St. Athens, will be held at 11 a.m.  Thursday in Foster and Brown Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Paul Cleveland officiating.   Interment will be in Oakland Memorial Park.   Mrs. Floyd died Tuesday in Henderson County Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.   She was born Jan. 5, 1910, in Kerens.  She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Andrew J. Matthews.  She had resided in   Athens since 1945.  She was the widow of the late E. U. Floyd, who preceded her in death in 1971.  She was a retired employee of Hollywood Vassarette and a Baptist.   Survivors include one son, Jack M. Floyd; two grandsons, Andrew C. Floyd and Mark J. Floyd; and one granddaughter, Mrs. Laura Phillips, all of Athens.

Services held for Josephine Carter
 

Services for Mrs. Josephine Carter, 85, of Athens were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Foster and Brown Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Cleveland officiating.
  Burial was in the Kerens City Cemetery.   Mrs. Carter died late Saturday afternoon following an extended illness.   Born Nov. 17, 1893 in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Sam Garrett, and had lived in Athens since 1930.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She owned and operated beauty shops in East Texas for 50 years, and was believed to be one of the oldest active beauticians in Texas.   Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Ara Jean Floyd of Athens; two sisters Mrs. Mossie Smith of Kerens and Mrs. Grover Nickleson of Amherst; one grandson, Jack Floyd of Athens; and three great-grandchildren.   Pallbearers were Terry Phillips, Jon Pugh, Jimmy Anderson, Thomas Henderson, Bill Jewell and C.W. Wallace.   Honorary pallbearers were Gurley Sanders, Fred Miller, Fred Pugh, Jack Life, Jack Owen, the Rev. Grover Bishop and Tom Brown.

Raymond Pillow, 68, of Springdale, Ark. died Saturday in a veterans hospital in Fayetteville, Ark. following a lengthy illness.   Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Carroll and Lehr Funeral Home memory chapel with the Rev. Grover Bishop officiating.  Burial will be in the Walnut Creek Cemetery.   Mr. Pillow was in Kerens and had made his home in Athens.  He had been a resident of Arkansas for the past six months.  A member of the Baptist Church, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army and American Legion.   Survivors include four sons, Eugene Pillow of Reed Springs, Mo. Charles Holsum, Robert Holsum and Elmer Holsum, all of Springdale, Ark; one daughter, Mrs. Wanda Rowland of Springdale, Ark.; one brother, Ray Pillow of Andrea, Calif., five sisters, Mrs. Izoria Christopher of Athens, Mrs. Mary Quick of Anderson, Calif., Mrs. Eliza Mae Grimillion of Mesquite, Mrs. Edith Clements and Mrs. Ophelia DeBretta of Wattsonville, Calif., and six grandchildren.
