Aged Malakoff Resident Dies; Services Held

Funeral services were held at the Malakoff cemetery Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock for J. T. Holley, 73, a resident of the Malakoff community for the past fifteen years. Mr. Holley died at 5:30 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at the home of a son, I. C. Holley, near that town.
The services were conducted by Rev. J. L. Brantley, pastor of the First Baptist church of Malakoff.
Deceased came to Malakoff fifteen years ago from Como, Texas, where he had lived for many years. He is survived by his wife, one son, I. C. (Irvin) Holley, Malakoff; two daughters, Mrs. Charlie Berryhill, Lubbock, and Mrs. M. C. Bayless, Malakoff.

Aged Resident Beck’s Chapel Dies Wednesday

Mrs. D. A. Jackson, 82, a resident of the Beck’s Chapel community for more than fifty years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jim Arthurs, at 7:25 Wednesday morning. Mrs. Jackson fell and broke her hip last Saturday and never regained consciousness following the accident.
Funeral services will be held at the Beck’s Chapel church at 2:00 o’clock Thursday afternoon, with burial following in that cemetery there by the side of her husband who passed away in 1927.
Deceased had been a member of the Baptist Church for the greater part of her life.
Surviving besides Mrs. Arthurs are four other daughters, Mrs. Minnie Moon of Cross Roads, Mrs. Ola Mills of Athens,, Mrs. Alonzo Mills of LaRue and Mrs. Bennett Lewis of Athens and one son, Henry Jackson, who resides south of Athens. One sister, Mrs. Maggie Hurbrough, of Beck’s Chapel, also survives. Deceased was a sister of the late “Uncle” Henry Ward, who died some six weeks ago.

Attend Dallas Rites For Geo. E. French

J. P. Pickens, Mrs. D. T. Broom, Miss Frankie Pickens, Mrs. W. A. French of Athens attended funeral services held in Dallas Tuesday afternoon for George Evans French, 24, whose death occurred at he St. Paul Sanitarium in that city on Monday afternoon. Deceased was a grandson of Mrs. W. A. French and the late W. A. French of Athens. He was a son of Mrs. Mattie French and the late Prince French of this city. Survivors include his wife, his mother, one brother and three sisters.

Brewer Rites Held Monday Edom Church

Funeral services for Oscar Anderson Brewer, 65, who died at his home in Brownsboro Sunday night about 9 o’clock, were held Monday afternoon at 3 o’clock at the Edom Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Henry of Santa Maria, Calif., Clarence, of Amarillo, and James Avery, in the United States Army; three daughters, Mrs. Pearl Purdy and Mrs. Ollie Perry, both of Brownsboro, and Mrs. Mittie Geahmon of Gladewater.

Burial For Poynor Farmer On Wednesday

George William Redding, 31, farmer and lifetime resident of Poynor, died at his home at 9:00 o’clock Tuesday night following an illness of eight months.
Funeral services was held at 3 o’clock Wednesday afternoon at the Poynor cemetery, with Rev. McDaniel of Chandler officiating. Pallbearers were Boyd Bacon, Jim Dickerson, Ferris Dickerson, Willie Padgett, Charlie Padgett and Frank Kitchens.
Surviving are five brothers, Robert, Arthur and Jim Redding of Poynor and Carl and Leroy Redding of Frankston, and three sisters.
