Ashton rites held Monday in Eustace

The funeral service for Ovie Lee Ashton, 82, of Eustace took place at 2 p.m. Monday in the Eustace Assembly of God Church with the Rev. James
Shephard and the Rev. Hubert Lowery officiating.
He was buried in Moorehead Cemetery in Henderson County with arrangements directed by Eubank Funeral Home of Canton.

Mr. Ashton died Saturday in a Athens hospital after a long illness.
A native of Alvarado, Mr. Ashton had lived in the Eustace area most of his life. He was a member of the Eustace Assembly of God Church and a retired farmer.

He is survived by his wife, Della Ashton of Eustace; three sons, J. D. Ashton and Horace Griffin, both of Eustace, and Oral Ashton of Pasadena; one daughter,
Mrs. Edith York of Pasadena; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were Dennis Ashton, Kenneth Ashton, Pat Shirey, Harvey York, Jimmy Squires and Kenneth Blank.

Note: Death certificate shows Ovie Lee Ashton born July 16, 1894 in Alvarado Texas and died August 28, 1976 in Athens, Henderson County Texas.
Death certificate also shows that he served in WW 1. Informant Mrs. Oral Ashton (LGR)
