Velma L. "Adair" Smith

Funeral services for Velma Lee Smith, 72, of Dallas, formerly of
Athens, were held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Pleasant Grove First Baptist
Church in Dallas with Rev. Steve Swofford officiating.

Interment was in Restland Memorial Park in Dallas, under direction of
Macon-Douglas Funeral Home.

Mrs. Smith died Tuesday in her home in Dallas.

She was born April 9, 1908 in Henderson County. She was a retired school
teacher, having taught in Pleasant Grove and Garland schools. She was
active in local, state and national teachers associations. She was First
Worthy Matron of Lucinda Conner Chapter of Eastern Star.

Survivors include her husband, Harold L. Smith of Dallas; two brothers, P. C.
Adair of Murchison and Henry Adair of Mabank; and seven nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Gordon Apple, D. Douglas, Robert Shelton, J. Wakeland, Kermit
Key and J. Kelsey.

Note-Velma Lee Adair Smith was the daughter of William Littleton and
Roxie E. Cranford Adair.
