WALL CEMETERY - LIBERTY HILL COMMUNITY
Off FM 227 W. of Bobbitt Cemetery and bridge over San Pedro Creek - County
road to Franklin Top Church, formerly Pine Top. Cemetery is in woods on
private property not accessible to public.
This cemetery was
used before Post Oak Cemetery at Augusta. We find evidence of 20 to 30
graves - believe there was more.
Known to be interred here were members of the Anderson, Overshown, Pearson,
and Williams families; possibly Edens, Singletary, and other families buried
relatives here. Most graves are marked by rocks - a few have names. Some
think black and white persons buried here. Rev. C. W. Overshown and
the Moores to do more research.
Surveyed April, 1985, by Hazel and Howard Moore, Historical Commission
members, and Clemmie McDonald, all of Liberty Hill. Mrs. Hattie Overshown
McDonald assisted with identification and history. Written by Hazel Moore.
