Cemeteries

There are several known graves in Loving County and some small family grave yards, however, there is not really what most folks would call a cemetery. Many folks from Loving County are buried in the Kermit Cemetery in Winkler County and in the cemeteries of Reeves County. If you know where others from Loving County are buried please contact me.

Although there is no cemetery in the county there are graves and at least 4 of them are marked.

Shady Davis, about 1890-1912

John P. Clawson, 1863-1908, a homesteader, died and was buried on his place in what is now the Johnson's Slash Ranch.

Rex E McQueen, 30 Nov 1924-14 Aug 1991. Rex and Polly McQueen worked for Sid Mac Kyle on the Kyle Ranch. Sid referredto them as "family". Rex was buried in 1991 on a hill above the ranch headquarters.

Julian V Sanchez, 9 Jan 1924-4 Nov 1992. Julian Sanchez worked on the Johnson's Slash and Boyd Ranches for many years and was respected in this area as a "Savvy Cowman". He was buried in 1992 on the Slash Ranch near the grave of Shady Davis.
Punk and Mary Belle Jones created a cemetery for themselves but I can only guess that it's located on their ranch.
