Jeanine Bodine
1929-2009

HUTTO -- Jeanine Bodine, formerly of Colorado City, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2009 at the age of 80. Jeanine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, caregiver, and great friend to all who knew her. She was born on March 1, 1929, to David and Thelma Bowman Stubblefield. She grew up in Mitchell County graduating from Colorado High School in 1946. She then attended Texas Tech before marrying her husband Ed Bodine, a geologist major at Texas Christian University, on March 5, 1948. In 1950 they moved back to Mitchell County where their three children were born, and they helped run the Bodine Brothers Dairy until 1958. They became active members of the Northside Church of Christ.
They moved to Midland, with Gulf Oil Company, where Jeanine worked in the Midland National Bank until her husband was transferred to Abilene in 1965. She was church secretary there with 16th and Vine Street Church of Christ before going to work at Abilene Christian University. In 1979, they moved back to their beloved Colorado City community and became very involved in church work with 22nd and Austin Streets Church of Christ. Jeanine made a good elder's wife; she loved having friends and family in her home.
Jeanine was a great homemaker and hostess and had a special love for swimming and water skiing. She was an avid bridge and 42 player, an expert cook and seamstress and loved all kinds of music including Big Band, Bing Cosby and George Strait. She made friends easily and was known by family and friends for her caring heart, friendliness, fun-loving personality, unconditional love, as well as being in constant correspondence with loved ones by phone and through mail. Jeanine was a faithful and long-time member of the Church of Christ. Her faith, family, and friends were very important to her, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was a very special and extraordinary lady. Her family would like to express heartfelt thanks to all her church family throughout the years that have given her value and purpose as she befriended, served, and loved them. Jeanine's husband described her as "everlasting," knowing that their love has stood the test of time.
Jeanine was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Stubblefield; two of her brothers, C.N. Stubblefield and Travis Stubblefield, as well as her parents.
Survivors include one brother, Dave Stubblefield of Colorado City; her children, Randell Bodine of Colorado City, Gary Bodine and wife, Brenda of Wellington, KS, Jena Thomas and husband Edward of Round Rock; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren and many other family members including nephews, nieces and a host of close friends.
The funeral services were held Tuesday, December 29 at the 22nd and Austin Streets Church of Christ in Colorado City. Interment followed the services at Colorado City Cemetery. Honoring Jeanine as pallbearers were Davey Stubblefield, Dwayne Stubblefield, Kirk Stubblefield, Blake Bodine and Bill Stokes. Dale Bynum and Mike Bodine were named as honorary pallbearers. Memorials may be made to Eastern European Missions, Abilene Christian University, Oklahoma Christian University, or Brentwood Christian School in Austin.
