Harvey Eugene Compton

Harvey Eugene Compton, Colorado truck operator died at the family home on West Fourth Street Sunday morning at 8:30, following an attack of acute indigestion.
He was born in Alabama January 3, 1878. He came to Texas many years ago and during the past twenty two years had resided in Mitchell County.
Mr. Compton is survived by his widow, Ora Free Compton and 8 children, Clint, Clyde, Buddy, Harvey Jr., Grace, Claudie Fay, Joyce and Hazel McCollum.
He is also survived by 4 brothers and 4 sisters, J.M. Compton of Loraine, Will Compton of Nimrod, Sidney and Jim Compton of Loraine, Mollie Yeager of Birmingham, Alabama, Eula Turnstill of Ft. Worth, Georgia May Guthrie of Cisco, and Mattie Griffin of Hartsville, Alabama.
He had been a member of the Bethel Baptist church since 1920.
Funeral services were held Monday with the Rev. W. D. Green Baptist pastor of Sylvester in charge. Interment was in the Loraine Cemetery at 2 p.m.
A large crowd of old time friends gathered at the church in tribute and respect.
