James Compton
1917 - 2007

Mr. James Wilburn Compton, age 90, of Colorado City, died Tuesday, December 24, 2007, in a local care center. Graveside services were held at 10 A.M. Saturday in the Colorado City Cemetery with Rev. Matt Matlock officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Compton was born June 2, 1917, in Cisco to Jim and Della May Compton and had been a longtime resident of Mitchell County. He married Annie Lou Grimes Baker on August 14, 1954, in Lovington, New Mexico. He was a farmer and a retired truck driver for the City of Colorado City. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of WWII and a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife, Annie Lou Compton of Colorado City; a son, Jimmy Compton of Big Spring; a step-son, Tommy Baker of Colorado City; a step-daughter, Annie Lee Bennett of Terrell; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
