Ora Elbert Free Compton

Mrs. Ora E. Compton, 90, of Colorado City, died at 6:30 a.m. Friday at Root Memorial Hospital here. Services were at 4 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church.

The Rev. Harold Henderson, officiated, assisted by the Rev. Jimmy Roberts, pastor of First Baptist Church in Loraine. Burial was in Loraine Cemetery under the direction of Kiker Seale Funeral Home.

Born November 19, 1883 in Eastland County, she came to Colorado City in 1910. She married Harvey Compton in Eastland County in 1901. He died in 1934.

Mrs. Compton was a member of the Baptist Church and had been a resident of Root Valley Fair Lodge.

Survivors include three sons, R. C. (Dick) and L. W. (Buddy) both of Colorado City, and Harvey of Irving, four daughters, Grace Wyatt of Colorado City, Claudia McCreary and Joyce Knappe of Big Spring, and Hazel McCollum of Loraine; 15 grandchildren, Billie Reed, Weldon McCollum, Mary Beth Love, Buddy Compton, Marsha Compton, Steve Compton, Richard Compton, Bobby Compton, Judy Cody, Kenneth Compton, Warren McCreary, Caryle Brown, Mike McCreary, Tommy Jackson and Craig Knappe; 23 great grand-
children; and one great great grandchild.
