COLORADO CITY – Mrs. Lorene Cox, age 94, of Colorado City, died Sunday morning in a local care center. Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Colorado City Cemetery with Rev. Leandro Gonzales officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.

Mrs. Cox was born February 25, 1916, to William and Estella Sagley Layne in Clay County, Arkansas. She married Olen Cox on April 13, 1935 in Clay County, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on January 26, 1994. She had been a resident of Mitchell County since 1983 and was a homemaker and a Methodist.

She is survived by a daughter, Rose Mahan of Colorado City; a son, Ray Cox and wife, Keta of Big Spring; a sister, Ruby Lucille Lewis of St. Louis, Missouri; four grandsons; three granddaughters; six great-grandsons; five great-granddaughters; and one great-great-granddaughter.

She is also preceded in death by her parents; two sons, J. W. Cox and Felix Eugene Cox; a sister, Gladys Nelson; and three brothers, Clyde Layne, Everett Layne and Ely Layne.
