WESTBROOK – Mrs. Kathleen "Kay" Gregory, age 87,
died Wednesday, October 22, 2008, in Leonardtown, Maryland. She was a former resident of Westbrook for 24 years.
Mrs. Gregory was born May 15, 1921, in Cleveland County,
Oklahoma, and moved to Texas when she was three months old.
She was the daughter of the late Samuel D. and Essie Moore Phillips of Big Spring and the proud wife of Clyde R. Gregory, who preceded her in death in 1995.
Kay grew up in West Texas and graduated from Cisco High
School in 1938. She married Clyde R. Gregory, the love of her life, on September 15, 1940. They farmed in Mitchell County before moving to Dumas in 1957 to raise their family. She and Clyde returned to Westbrook in 1983 to farm the Gregory land.
She was a former Avon (President's Club) sale person for 11 years. She served on the Westbrook ISD school board for three years and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Colorado
City. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, gardening and a variety of arts and crafts, but her favorite activity was being with her family and friends. She moved to Maryland in 2007 and remained very active until her death.
Kay is survived by her son, Clyde R. Gregory, Jr. and his wife, Shirley of Garland; a daughter, Amy Bagwell and her husband, Henry of Leonardtown, Maryland; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 1, 2008, in the Westbrook Cemetery, under the direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home. Mr. Sonny Hollis will officiate the service.
