Joyce Knappe, 76, of Big Spring, died Friday, January 7, 2000 at Scenic Mountain Medical Center after a long illness. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. at the Loraine Cemetery.
She was born on April 17, 1923 in Mitchell County. She had been a resident of Big Spring for more than 50 years and was a Baptist.
Mrs. Knappe had been a Licensed Vocational nurse at Malone and Hogan Hospital and Scenic Mountain Medical Center, retiring in 1983
She was preceded in death by her husband Henry Knappe, her parents, Harvey and Ora Compton, four brothers, Clarence E. Compton, Clinton E. Compton, R. C. (Dick) Compton, L. W. (Bud) Compton; two sisters, Lucile Compton and Grace Wyatt.
She is survived by two sons, Tommy Gene Jackson of Mineola, Texas and Henry Craig Knappe of San Angelo, Texas, a brother Harvey E. (Hobbs) Compton of Irving, Texas; two sisters, Hazel McCollum and Claudia McCreary of Big Spring, Texas; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements under the direction of Myer & Smith Funeral Home.
