Marvin Laine McCollum

M. L. (Laine) McCollum, 70, died Friday in West Texas Medical Center in Abilene after a short illness.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday in the First Baptist Church of Loraine with the Rev. Jimmie Roberts, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Loraine Cemetery under direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.

He was born November 28, 1903 in Cook County, Texas and moved to Mitchell County in 1910. He was married to Hazel Compton on November 15, 1925 in Colorado City and had been a farmer. He retired in 1968.

Survivors include his wife of the home; one daughter, Billie Jean Reed of Abilene; one son, Weldon McCollum of Loraine; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were Rex McDaniel, Lon Stephenson Jr., Alvie Ennis, Cecil Schafer, Harold Johnson, and W.H. Narrell.
