COLORADO CITY ~~ Funeral for L. P. Merrill, 83, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the First Methodist Church in Colorado City with the Rev. Billy Wilkinson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Colorado City Cemetery under the direction of Kiker and Son Funeral Home.
Mr. Merrill, an area rancher died at 6:10 p.m. Sunday in the Root Valley Fair Lodge after a long illness.
He was born December 14, 1886 in Somerville County. He married Berta Lou Webb December 11, 1921 in Glen Rose. They came to Colorado City in January, 1925. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. C. C. Burt of Colorado City and Mrs. Jane Brady of Weatherford; one brother, Louis P. Merrill of Midlothian; four sisters, Mrs. W. E. Weeks and Mrs. G. L. Vettilyon both of Odessa, Mrs. John Mason of Burkburnett and Mrs. R. E. Massey of Dallas; one grandchild.
