MONDAY, MARCH 8, 1965

COLORADO CITY~~ Funeral for John J. Smith, 78, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the First Christian Church with Dr. Ralph Graham, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Colorado City Cemetery under direction of Kiker and Son Funeral Home.
Mr. Smith died Sunday in a Carlsbad, Texas hospital after a lengthy illness. He was a retired railroad engineer. He was born in Kansas in April 6, 1886 and moved to Mitchell County in 1927.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Charley of Colorado City, Gene of Abilene and John Jr. of Midland; two daughters, Mrs. H.J. Barnett of Colorado City and Mrs. Tom Johnson of Midland; a brother, Tom of Duncan, Oklahoma; two sisters, Mrs. Mae Clanton of Mineral Wells and Mrs. Lula Brannon of Phoenix, Arizona; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
