C.W. "Short" Womack

Former Anchorage resident C.W. "Short" Womack, 67, died Dec. 27 at Mitchell County Hospital in Mitchell County, Texas. A funeral was at First United Methodist Church in Colorado City, Texas, with the Rev. Jake Chaney and the Rev. Howard Quiett officiating. Burial was in Cuthbert Cemetery in Cuthbert, Texas.

Mr. Womack was born April 2, 1926, in Mitchell County. He married Nancy Haines on May 26, 1947, in Colorado City. Mr. Womack was U.S. Navy a veteran and served during World War II. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Womack was a retired truck driver and dispatcher and member of St. Luke's Methodist Church in Colorado City. While in Alaska, he worked for Bayless and Roberts Trucking Co. in Anchorage and Copper Center. He lived in Anchorage in 1973 to 1982, then moved to Colorado City. Mr. Womack was preceded in death by his father, John Sr.; brothers, John Jr. and Clarence, and sister, Maxine Yates.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Colorado City; son, Charles "Sam" William Womack Jr. of Anchorage; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Chester Alhgrim of Waterflow, N.M., Johnnie Lee and Dennis Coulon of Cortez, Colo., and Marilyn Tozer of Colorado City; mother, Mary of Clinton, Texas; 16 grandchildren including Rickie Tozer, Johnny, Tommy and Teri Lynn Womack, all of Anchorage; and eight great- grandchildren, including Tamari Womack and Alec Michael Goodney of Anchorage. Arrangements were handled by Kiker-Seale Funeral Home Inc. in Colorado City.
