Rogers CemeteryHow To Get There: From Beltway Drive South (FM 707) in Abilene, Texas, take US Highway 84 South 12.3 miles to the intersection with Farm to Market Road 614. Turn left (east) on FM 614 and go 3.9 miles. Rogers Cemetery is on the right (south) of the road. GPS Location: 32.174347, -99.683539 This old cemetery in south Taylor County is still in use. The last inventory in 1977 showed 33 unmarked graves. If there was a "most improved award" Rogers Ceemetery would win hands down, They have been working to upgrade the cemetery in a number of ways. Most notably is the fact that there is only one unmarked grave. Perhaps not with a headstone (yet) and no dates of birth or death but the names are there. There has been much effort put into repairing broken or leaning headstones and there are at least 20 "new headstones" placed on old graves in the past few years. This cemetery listing is now updated through the year 2000. |
