Benton Cemetery
Home

This cemetery has long been abandoned and was, most likely, started as a family cemetery which allowed others to be buried there. It has been taken over by the Texas Utility Mining operation with access controlled by them. It was 7 1/2 miles southwest of Mt. Pleasant and 1/4 mile North of a black topped country road in Winfield School District. On land owned by L. A. Stroman Jr. It has only one monument: for John Benton and wife. John Benton born 7/5/1826 Died 5/23/1883 Deary Yan Benton. Remains of the Bentons were moved to Edwards Cemetery lots 1-8 Block 6, lots 1-2 Block 7
