Emerson Cemetery
Home

Emerson Cemetery is Located about 6 miles SW of Mt. Pleasant in West Central Titus County on lands now being mined for coal. Since it is on mine property, access poses some difficulty, requiring escort and appointment. Further, landmarks that were once established no longer are valid. At the time of writing of Lynch Harper’s “Cemeteries of Titus County”, the land was owned by Alfred Redfearn and the cemetery was located behind his barn. It is found on land within the J. C. Stewart Headright survey, Abstract #503. There is a specific deed setting aside this one acre of land for cemetery purposes. There is currently a fence around the acreage and it shows signs of having been maintained, but currently, there is no maintenance being conducted and weeds and briars are making a significant encroachment. In addition to the monuments listed below, sometime in the past, 8 cement blocks had been placed, supposedly to mark know grave sites that lacked monuments.

No directions to the cemetery are given since special permission must be obtained from mine property managers. Global Positioning System recordings were: 33o08.140'N 095o03.786'W
