James and Cynthia Hardcastle Moore Family Memorial No tombstone for any of these individuals has been found, although all of them died in or near Canton, Texas.
James Moore was born in Anderson Co., South Carolina, and died in Moore Community, Van Zandt Co., Texas in 1876.
Cynthia Hardcastle was born in Rutherford or Johnson Co., North Carolina, and died before 1870 in Moore Community. They married about 1820 in Franklin Co., Alabama. All of their children were born in Hardeman Co., Tennessee. Their children were:
1. Curtis Moore, married first Frances Robertson in 1845 in Hardeman, Tn. and had 4 children. He married second Sylvinia Flora in Van Zandt, and had 2 children. Curtis died about 1878.
2. Levi "Lee" Moore, married Mariah Louisa Stanley in 1847 in Tippah, Mississippi, and had 10 children. He died in Canton in 1871.
3. Mahala E. Moore, married John R. C. Henderson in Canton in 1853 and had 5 children. She died in 1870 in Canton, of Consumption.
4. William Bomar "Bome" Moore married first Barbara Tankersley in Canton, in 1860. They had 3 children. He married second Harriet Caroline "Callie" Cole in Canton in 1866. They had 5 children. Bome died in Canton in 1877.
5. McDonald Moore married first Nancy Louisa Covington in 1855. They had 2 children. He married second Margaret E. Blue in 1868 and they had one child. McDonald died in Canton in 1879.
6. Thomas J. Moore fought and died in the Civil War. (Texas 10th Cavalry)
7. Richard Frank Moore married Sophrona Alisa Faulk and had 1 child. Frank was killed in Vicksburg in the Civil War.
8. Susan Jane Moore married Solomon Young Carter in Canton in 1856. They had 8 children. Susie died 1880 - 1882 in Canton.
9. Sarah A. Moore married George Washington Tull and had one child, Romilda Martha Tull. Sally died in Canton in 1862.
10. Cynthia Martha Moore married Thomas Pate Carter. They had no children. Mattie died before May, 1870.
11. James Moore dead before 1870.
I am Milda Mason. My Grandmother and I were both named after Romilda Martha Tull.
