Ava Caroline "Avie" Carter was born in Perry County, Tennessee, the daughter of Solomon Carter and Winnefred Pate.
About 1853 she married William Cook and they had one child, Susan Josephine Cook, born in 1854.
Ava divorced William Cook in Canton on November 23 1857.
May 15, 1868, in Canton, Ava married Theodore Cyphus Norton.
Ava and Theodore had no children, and Theodore Norton died March 12, 1879.
Ava married Orvil B. Burns in Canton on December 1, 1881.
Ava Caroline Carter, Cook, Norton, Burns died January 2, 1894 in Van Zandt County.
Her only known child, Susan Josephine Cook, married Jordan William Hobbs.
