John Meeks was born on New Year's day,
in 1792, in Pendleton District, Anderson County, North Carolina.
He was the son of Nacy Ignacius and Frances Holt Meeks.
John died September 12, 1863 in Canton, Texas.
John Meeks was married about 1821 in Bedford County Tennessee,
to Sarah Blackwell.
Sarah was born in South Carolina in 1799, and died before 1860
in Canton, Texas.
It is believed that Sarah Blackwell Meeks is also buried in Carter
Cemetery, although a stone has not been found.
John and Sarah Meeks had about 7 known children:
