The Harris family came from Louisiana. The father's name was William and he came to Texas in 1866. His mother was a Bradshaw and they were married in 1856. Mr. Harris himself was born February 2, 1862, in Columbia county, Arkansas, and was educated in the common schools of Texas.
He chose to be a mechanic and has worked in wood and iron for twenty years. In May, 1883, he married Miss Millie Cooper. He came from Rusk county four years ago.
He owns a turning lay and does a general line of work in wood and iron, but especially he makes an excellent quality of chair. He is a substantial citizen and is willing to labor for the upbilding (sic) of his town and county.
