HOPKINS COUNTY.
L.D. King, chairman of the Democratic executive committee of Hopkins county, suggests that the voters of the county assemble in the city of Sulphur Springs, in mass meeting, on Monday, the 27th day of December, for the purpose of selecting delegates to the State convention.......The following officers were elected by the Sulphur Springs Masonic Lodge, at their regular meeting last Thursday night:H.A. Garrison, W.M. (Worshipful Master); S.P. Bowen, S.W. (Senior Warden); J.M. Ashcroft, J.W. (Junior Warden); J.H. Bass, Treasurer; R.M. Henderson, secretary; Thomas Gafford, tyler.......The following officers were elected by the Sulphur Springs Good Templar Lodge at their recent election: W.F. Henderson, W.C.T.; Mrs. R.? Jacobs, W.V.T; J.H. Dinsmore, P.W.C.T; Rev. S.J. Anderson, W.C.; M.H. Looney, W.S.; W.R. Jacobs, W.F.S., A.M. Fields, W.T.; J.W. Atkins, W.M.; Mrs. Lizzie Fields, W.D.M; Louis Starr, I.S.G; O.M. Pate, O.S.G......Hopkins County Medical Society met on Thusday last. The death of Dr. W. I. Johnston; a member of the society, being announced, resolutions commemerative of his death were passed. A resolution was adopted requesting Dr. Lewis to read an essay on "Periodical Fevers," at the next meeting, previously prepared by Dr. Johnston....The Sulphur Springs Gazette says: "On last Thursday our streets, at an early hour, were literally crowded with cotton wagons -- some of them from Hunt and Delta counties."
