The many friends of Prof. C. B. Gay will learn with sorrow that he is sick at Winnsboro, where he is now making his home. (Jly. 15, 1924)

Arthur Hastings has gone back to McKinney for further treatment in the hospital at that place. Mr. Hastings is suffering with cancer of the mouth. (Jly. 15, 1924)

C. C. Broigoitti says he is having trouble with his early melons, from the fact that boys are raiding his patch and destroying them at night. He says he will use a little strychnine unless his melons are left alone to get ripe. (Jly. 15, 1924)

Mrs. Piney Leewright will leave this week for her home in Petrolia, after having recovered from an operation for appendicitis some weeks ago at the home of her parents, Mr. & Mrs. B. H. Moss. (Jly. 15, 1924)

A Ford car driven by Miss Dona Mae Anglin was turned over Monday near the Bingham home on the Jefferson highway. The driver lost control of the car when attempting to pass another car in a rough, sandy place in the road. The car was damaged to the extent of having the top torn off, and windshield broken, while Miss Anglin escaped uninjured. (Jly. 16, 1924)

Aunt Lizzie Crisp, one of the pioneer ladies of Hopkins County, who lives northwest of town, is reported to be quite sick. She is ninety years old. (Jly. 17, 1924)

Miss Dimple Jones, who has been with Mrs. M. E. Houston, left today for Dallas, where she will visit the wholesale houses for new ideas in millinery, and will return in time for fall business. (Jly. 17, 1924)

The ten year old son of Horace Speed, south of Cumby, had the misfortune to break his arm while cranking a Ford car Saturday. (Jly. 21, 1924)

Mr. & Mrs. Fred Stevenson have returned to Wichita Falls, after visiting his father, J. A. Stevenson, who remains very sick at his home north of town. (Jly. 21, 1924)

Dr. J. Bert Thomas and his sister, Mrs. R. B. Carothers, Mr. & Mrs. J. S. Bagwell visited R. B. Long in Commerce, Sunday, who has been in a very bad condition for some time and is unimproved. (Jly. 21, 1924)

Mr. & Mrs. C. B. Gay were here Saturday and called for their letter from the First Baptist Church to join the church at Shreveport. Mr. Gay joined the Sulphur Springs church in 1883, and had, therefore, been a member for more than 40 years. (Jly. 21, 1924)

C. A. Bridges, Monday night, took half a dozen boys out to his farm, three miles east of town, on a camping tour. They were Charles Bridges, Eugene Chamberlain, Murrell Halbrook, Edwin Branom and John S. Bagwell, Jr. The boys reported a great time, and that Mr. Bridges is a great scoutmaster. Miss Mary Maude Markey of Kirksville, Mo., is expected in this afternoon to visit Miss Helen Grace Gould. They were former classmates in Washington University, St. Louis. (Jly. 22, 1924)

Charley McClure, one of the foremost farmers of Hopkins county, was here Tuesday morning and reports the peach harvest now on in his community, and that the yeild will be above the average. The price also, he predicted, will remain good. Mr. McClure has already shipped by express something like 300 bushels of early peaches to Houston and other markets. (Jly. 22, 1924)

Mrs. A. B. Hasting and daughter, Evelyn, have returned f rom McKinney, where they spent the week-end with her daughter, Mrs. Walter Cockrell. (Jly. 22, 1924) Also reported that Mrs. A. B. Hasting, who has been suffering with a cancer and is taking treatment at the Caldwell sanitarium in McKinney, is reported as slowly improving.
